SURRENDER

. . . pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

1 Timothy 6:11-12 (NIV)

Dear Souls! How little they know that the abiding in Christ is just meant for the weak, and so beautifully suited to their feebleness.  It is not the doing of some great thing, and does not demand that we first lead a very holy and devoted life.  No, it is simply weakness entrusting itself to a Mighty One to be kept—the unfaithful one casting self on One who is altogether trustworthy and true.  Abiding in him is not a work that we have to do as the condition for enjoying his salvation but a consenting to let him do all for us, and through us.   It is a work he does for–the fruit and the power of his redeeming love.  Our part is simply to yield, to trust and to wait for what he has engaged to perform.

Andrew Murray

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved

Romans 10:19 (NIV)

Remember to let Jesus in your heart this.  Surrender all to Him this year.

Have a blessed month.

JANUARY Words for Thought

He who put God first will have joy; that lasts.

A change in behavior begins with change in the heart.

Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.

To keep from denying Christ, You must rely on Christ!

To make the most of your life, make God’s goals your goals.

You please God when your walk matches your talk.

To find joy at Christmas, look at Jesus.

To get into heaven, it who you know that counts.

God’s grace is always sufficient.

God blesses us so that we will bless others.

No service for Christ is insignificant.

You can quickly lose interest in worship if you have nothing invested.

You’re headed in the right direction if you’re walking with Christ.

A HAPPY NEW YEAR

With smiling faces and hearts full of cheer

  Let's enter into a grace-filled year-

Four precious seasons that promise to bring

Chances to love God, our Father the King,

Twelve glorious months to serve mankind's needs,

Fifty-two weeks to do loving deeds,

Hundreds of fresh days our lives to fulfill

By doing with love God's unerring will.

So, enter with joy for rich blessings are there,

Enter as a child in God's royal care,

Enter with great love for "Love casts our fear,"

Enter expecting a good year is here.

Then trade time wisely for graces that last,

Moments are fleeting a year is soon past.

Prayer Principles

When we make request of God, we need to ask within God’s will, with the right attitudes, and according to guidelines God gives us in His Word.  We must pray with clean hearts, not only receiving God’s forgiving others.

Jesus tell us to ask in His name (John 14:14).  Asking in His name is not a ritual, however, that produces magical results.  We should pray while abiding in Christ (John 15:7).  Abiding in Christ involves keeping His commandments and taking His Word seriously.

God wants us to pray in humility, recognizing our need of God and submitting ourselves to Him (Luke 18:9-14).  We need to be sure our petition is in line with God’s will rather tan motivated by selfish desires.

We must also pray in faith, Without doubt in our hearts (Matt. 21:21-22).  The prayer of faith recognizes God’s authority and power.  God also wants us to persevere in prayer.  Jesus instructed us to keep on asking, seek, and knocking (Matt. 7:7-8, Luke 11: 5-10).

Have a blessed month.

In Christ love,

Brother Gerald

John 14:14 Yes, ask anything in my name, and I will do it!

John 15:7  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Luke 18:9-14  But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!

Matthew 21:21-22   Then Jesus told them, “I assure you, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May God lift you up and throw you into the sea,’ and it will happen. 22  If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Matthew 7:7-8  7 _ "Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. 8For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks.

Luke 11:5-10  5Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this illustration: “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You would say to him, 6‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’ 7He would call out from his bedroom, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and we are all in bed. I can’t help you this time.’ 8 _ But I tell you this—though he won’t do it as a friend, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you what you want so his reputation won’t be damaged.£

9“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. 10For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Psalms 150:6

If you can’t hear God speaking check the volume control of your conscience.

Prayers Are The Stairs To God

Prayers are the stairs

We must climb every day,

If we would reach God

There is no other way,

For we learn to know God

When we meet Him in prayer

And ask Him to lighten

Our burden of care –

So start in the morning

And, though the way’s steep,

Climb ever upward

“til your eyes close in sleep-

for prayers are the stairs

that lead to the Lord,

\And to meet Him in prayer

Is the climber’s reward.

Our love for god is seen in our love for others!

Stay In The Sunshine!

In his book The Best Is Yet To Be, Henry Durbanville told the story of a little girl in London who won a prize at a flower show. Her entry was grown in an old cracked teapot and had been placed in the rear attic window of a rundown tenement house. When asked how she managed to raise such a lovely flower in such an unlikely environment, she said she moved it around so it would always be in the sunlight.

Durbanville then reminded his readers of Jesus’ words, “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love” (John 15:9). We learn from this that we too must keep ourselves continually in the warmth of Christ’s love.

We abide in Christ’s love when we show love to others. Jesus made this clear when He said, “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love. . . . This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (vv.10,12-13).

We feel the warmth of Christ’s love when we obey His commandment to love and serve others.  That’s the way to stay in the sunshine! –RWD

Worldly pleasure is anything that crowds Christ out of your life.

Christ was lifted up on the cross that we might be lifted out of our sins.

The Gospel is contagious – SPREAD IT -!

True worship acknowledges the true worship of God

Only Christ the bread of life can satisfy our spiritual hunger.

Happiness not only awaits us in Heaven – there’s joy in journey.

The highest goal of learning is to know God.

Praise to God comes naturally when you COUNT YOUR BLESSING.

You can gain much knowledge on your own, but true wisdom comes only from God.

God use our down time to build us up.

A Christian’s life is the window through which others can see Jesus.

To know that God sees us brings both conviction and comfort.

Only Jesus the living water can satisfy our thrust for God.

With the Love of Jesus

With the Sacred Love of Jesus

We can walk throuth life, alone,

And be happy with the blessings

    He can will to heart and home;

We can live with joys and pleasures-

At our labors and our play –

With  His love as our companion

    And a compass to our ways;

We can walk on roads of shadows

Without fears or tempt of sin

For his love can be our servant

    To be faithful unto Him

And – in all of life’s disasters

And our storms of fear and grief –

We can have His strength and courage

    To bring comfort and relief.

Never! Never will we suffer –

As we do so much, today –

If we have the love of Jesus

   To keep holy and obey

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.  Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)

Faith

If faith . . . is a sure persuasion of the truth of God which can neither lie nor deceive us and be neither vain nor false, those who have conceived the certainty surely expect likewise that God will accomplish his promises which according to their conviction, cannot but be true.  So that, in sum, hope is nothing else than the expectation of the things that faith has believed to be truly promised by God.  Thus faith believes God to be truthful:  Hope expects that that he will show his veracity at the opportune time.  Faith believes God to be our Father:  Hope expects that he will always act as such towards us.  Faith believes eternal life to be given to us:  Hope expects that is shall at some time be revealed.  Faith is the foundation on which hope rests:  Hope nourishes and maintains faith.  For, just as no one can expect and hope anything from God, except he who will have first believed his promises, so on the other hand, it is necessary that our feeble faith (lest it grow weary and fail) be sustained and kept by patients hope and expectation.      (Source: God’s Words of Life by John Calvin)

faith

We struggle to keep up the pace,

    Sometimes we wonder why.

Fear says we’ll never win the race,

But faith tells us to try,

There’s no one there to comfort us,

    We’re lost and all alone.

Fear drives us far away from God,

But faith brings us back home.

We need to place our trust in Him,

    Although we cannot see.

Our fears can bind us evermore,

But faith will set us free.

To walk in faith or run in fear . . .

It’s up to us to choose the race,

To run in fear will lose.
