Words Bring Success

JOSHUA 1:8 NKJ
8 "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

God's Word never changes. What God promised would work for Joshua will work for you, also. The problem with most of us is that we are just too busy to put God's Word first like we should. But we are not too busy to work trying to get ahead. Explain that.

God never lies. Follow His instructions given above and you WILL have prosperity and good success. Maybe not in 10 minutes. Maybe not even for 10 years. But you will. God promises it.

Notice that Joshua 1:8 does not just say to think about God's Word. No -- the Word must continually be in your mouth! Words!

1 PETER 3:10 NKJ
10 For "He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile;

Speaking and thinking in line with God's Word will cause you to prosper and succeed. If you would like to see good days, the Bible admonishes you to watch your words!

Never confess defeat. Confessing Jesus as Lord of every situation brings glory to God.

SAY THIS: I will keep God's Word in my thoughts and in my mouth. Then I will have good success in life.

Writing for God

Read Psalm 119:65-72

The psalmist wrote, "Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word."

-Psalm 119:67 (NIV)

THE psalmist talks of an affliction, though we do not know specifically what that affliction was. My affliction was divorce. Before my divorce I served my own interests instead of God's interests. I had strayed from God as well as from my commitment to my wife.

During my affliction, I realized that I had two choices. I could continue doing what I was doing, which obviously was not working, or I could turn back to God. I took the better path.

Writing, for me, is a way to express my love of God and to share with others my daily walk with God. Another writer, the apostle Paul, wrote many letters about his affliction, the thorn in his flesh. (See 2 Cor. 12:7.) In spite of his affliction, he kept writing, expressing, and sharing his love of God.

There are all sorts of afflictions in this world. We can allow them either to break us or to lift us up. The choice is ours. If we choose God's way, our afflictions can lead us closer to God.

Quotes for Thought

Spiritual growth requires the solid food of God's Word. Daily Bread We may be certain that whatever God has made prominent in his word, he intended to be conspicuous in our lives." Charles Spurgeon "Do not have your concert first, and then tune your instrument afterwards. Begin the day with the Word of God and prayer, and get first of all into harmony with Him.”

Between the Pages

A little boy opened the big and old family Bible with fascination, and looked at the old pages as he turned them. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible, and he picked it up and looked at it closely. It was an old leaf from a tree that had been pressed in between the pages.

"Momma, look what I found," the boy called out.

"What have you got there, dear?" his mother asked.

With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered: "I think it's Adam's suit!"

If Students Wrote the Bible

Instead of God creating the world in six days and resting on the seventh, He would have put it off until the night before it was due and then pulled an all-nighter.

The Last Supper would have been eaten the next morning--cold.

The Ten Commandments would actually be only five--double-spaced and written in a large font.

New edition would be published every two years in order to limit reselling.

Forbidden fruit would have been eaten because it wasn't cafeteria food.

Paul's letter to the Romans would become Paul's email to abuse@romans.gov.

Reason Cain killed Abel: they were roommates.

Reason why Moses and followers walked in the desert for 40 years: they didn't want to ask directions and look like freshmen.

The Right Words

Much too often words go unsaid
As many thoughts run through our head
It seems we just don’t take the time
To show emotions that we find

If only we would say the words
To heal a heart someone has hurt
To show someone we really care
And even love them, if we dare?

When just a few kind words
Can fill your heart with song
It warms your soul so easily
And with that, there is no wrong

So search until you find
The words so soft and kind
And when you plant that loving seed
Soon you’ll find that’s all you need
